Bartercard All-Stars are playing to win

The Bartercard Premier All-Stars are playing to win during their up-coming matches against the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.

The All-Stars will tackle the Stars at Casey Fields on Sunday before backing up against the Renegades at the Junction Oval on Tuesday ahead of the third edition of the KFC T20 Big Bash League.

While a handful of past and present state representatives will turn out for the All-Stars, skipper Andrew Kent will also have three former Adelaide Strikers spinners at his disposal in the form of Bryce McGain, James Muirhead and Daniel Salpietro.

Kent said he expected the trio to play a key role for the All-Stars.

“We’ll probably look to use a few of the big quicks in the first four, five or six overs and then it’s no secret that spin goes very well (in this format),” Kent said.

“They’re all good players at different stages of their careers, but I’m sure they’re all motivated to do well for different reasons.

“As a bowler, what better stage is there to show a bit in these matches?”

Less than a week out from the opening round of BBL|03, Kent said he was excited by the opportunity of facing off against the Stars and Renegades and said the onus was on his team to ensure there was longevity in the concept.

“It’s a really good initiative,” Kent said.

“It’s up to us now to take it up to the Stars and Renegades and make this a permanent fixture on the calendar.

“We are planning and preparing to win.”

The Stars and Renegades will use the fixtures as key preparation ahead of the Melbourne Derby at the MCG on Friday, December 20.
