Cricket Victoria receives VICSRAPID award
Cricket Victoria was overwhelmed to be presented with the Rahls Memorial Award from VICSRAPID (Victorian Sport and Recreation of Persons with an Intellectual Disability) at their annual general meeting last week.
The Rahls Memorial Award recognises Cricket Victoria’s contribution to ensuring that sport is fun and inclusive for people of all abilities.
The award was presented during the last match of the International All Abilities Championship match between Australia and England.
It was a fitting setting for the presentation as four Victorian club cricketers – Gavan Hicks, Lachlan MacRae, Daynah Hopkins and Steve Teloniatis – took to the field not only representing Australia, but their respective cricket clubs – Avoca, Endeavour Hills and Croydon Ranges.
Each of these clubs and their players represent the inclusive nature of club cricket in Victoria and demonstrate Cricket Victoria’s Harmony in Cricket philosophy.
Cricket Victoria’s Community Programs Manager, Annie Hateley commented:
“Receiving the award is not just a reflection on Cricket Victoria, but a reflection of all of Cricket Victoria’s member clubs, centres and associations, and the volunteers that help to ensure that cricket clubs are welcoming and embracing of all people of all different backgrounds and abilities.”
