Community GloBALL

GloBALL

A social inclusion program

Cricket Victoria offered tickets to community groups, international students, new migrants, asylum seekers and refugees for two KFC T20 Big Bash League fixtures this summer.

The GLoBALL season started in a flurry with 270 eager GLoBALLers making their way to Etihad Stadium to witness the all mighty Melbourne Renegades take on the Hobart Hurricanes.

With plenty of stars on show, the Melbourne Renegades proved to be too strong with fantastic games played by Sri Lankan great, Muthiah Muralidaran and Big Bash player of the tournament for the second year running, Aaron Finch.

GLoBALL participants were thrilled to see Hobart Hurricane and ex Australian captain, Ricky Ponting take to the field with other current greats, including George Bailey, Marlon Samuels and T20 star Travis Birt.

The fun and excitement was not going to stop there with Game two coming upon our GLoBALLers in a hurry. Lasith Malinga's Melbourne Stars took on Chris Gayle's Sydney Thunder at the home of cricket, the MCG.

This game was defiantly going to have our 280 GLoBALLers on the edge of their seat as it proved to go down to the wire with Chris Gayle nearly leading his troops to an unexpected victory.

For many, this was the first time they had been to a game of cricket in Australia and experienced the atmosphere of the MCG and Etihad Stadium.

The fun will certainly not stop there over the winter, with Essendon Football Club providing GLoBALLers more opportunities to experience sport.  To find out how you can secure tickets to Essendon AFL games, follow this link http://globall.com.au/participants/

Cricket Victoria would like to thank all of our GLoBALLers that participated in the program over the cricket season and encourage you to get involved with Essendon Football Club's GLoBALL program.
