Bartercard Premier Cricket one-day Final this Sunday

The Monash Tigers will clash with Melbourne on Sunday at Central Reserve in the Final of the Bartercard Premier Cricket First XI white-ball competition.

Australian representatives Dan Christian and Cameron White are likely to feature in the Monash line-up while Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers Chris Tremain, Alexander Keath and Seb Gotch will lead the way for the Demons.

“To have the guys (White and Christian) available on Sunday will naturally be a boost for us so we welcome them back with open arms,” Tigers captain/coach Allan Wise said.

“Tremain has been a huge addition and having Keath and Gotch in strengthens the side,” Melbourne captain/coach Andrew Kent said.

The white-ball series has combined the results in both Twenty20 and one-day matches this season, with the Tigers finishing on top of the ladder with Melbourne finishing second.

Melbourne’s charge up the ladder has been on the back of batting duo Matt Brown (451 runs at 64.43) and captain/coach Andrew Kent (359 at 39.89), who both sit in the top five run-scorers in limited-overs matches in 2014-15.

“Brown is having a little bit of a breakout year,” Kent said.

“He’s been batting at the top in the one-dayers this season and is a match winner for us.”

Monash’s success has been through a team effort from their whole squad with seven bowlers claiming five wickets or more and four batsmen contributing over 100 runs.

“We’ve got a well-balanced side and a lot of depth,” Wise said.

“The key for us is going to be making sure that we put in an all-round fielding and team performance as we have won a lot of white-ball games with contributions from across the board.”

“Managing the Tigers’ power batting line-up will be important for us,” Kent said.

“Our bowlers will be under pressure but we have managed it well over the years.

“If we win on Sunday, it will be our third straight one-day title, which will be a good effort.”

Monash Tigers clash with Melbourne from 11am on Sunday (1/2) in a 50-over match.
