King Solomon joins the Renegades list

The KFC T20 Big Bash League Technical Committee has approved three changes to the Melbourne Renegades squad ahead of the Big Melbourne Derby at the MCG on Friday night.

Daniel Harris has been ruled out through injury and has been replaced by former under-19 Zimbabwe representative Solomon Mire, who has been upgraded from his Community Rookie role and is now eligible for selection.

Test quick James Pattinson is yet to return to full fitness and has been replaced by Geelong speedster Jake Reed, while Matthew Gale has also been ruled out through injury and has been replaced by Tasmanian paceman Andrew Fekete.

Under the new BBL playing conditions for this season, Harris, Pattinson and Gale will be able to resume their place in the Renegades squad if they recover from injury and are fit to resume playing duties before the end of the tournament.

Mire struck an unbeaten 101 from 53 deliveries for the Darren Lehmann Cricket Academy against the Renegades at the weekend including three consecutive sixes off former Australia A quick Jake Haberfield.

The Community Rookie contracts are a new BBL initiative to provide opportunities to players who might not otherwise be identified as one of Australian cricket’s pathway programs.

Under BBL playing conditions, rookie players do not form part of the BBL team squad unless the Technical Committee approves the player to be added to the team squad as a Local Replacement Player.

The Melbourne Stars and Renegades will clash at the MCG from 7.40pm on Friday night.
