Cranbourne Cricket Club have booked a spot in the Cricket Victoria Regional Big Bash Final on February 8 at the MCG against East Belmont Cricket Club after defeating STC South Camberwell on Sunday.

After surviving three rounds of conference play to make the final, Cranbourne will represent the Melbourne Stars conference, while East Belmont, who defeated Riddell Cricket Club to advance, will represent the Melbourne Renegades conference.

The final is set to feature the tournament’s best batting with the three leading run-scorers all set to wield the willow.

Cranbourne will roll out two of the three top run-getters in Steven Spoljaric (148 runs at an average of 148) and Matthew Chasemore (126 runs at an average of 63). Spoljaric has been a threat with the ball as well, nabbing 4-20 in round two and seven wickets for the tournament.

East Belmont also boasts a list of riches with Sean O’Neill (144 runs at an average of 144) and Chris Williams (seven wickets at an average of 11) set to pose the sternest challenge for Cranbourne.

The Cricket Victoria Regional Big Bash provides an opportunity for grassroots cricket clubs from across Victoria to participate in a knockout T20 competition culminating in the final to determine the winner of the 2016-17 Cricket Victoria Regional Big Bash.

Each of the 16 cricket regions in Victoria has provided one club to be their region’s representative in the Cricket Victoria Regional Big Bash. The 16 regions are split into two conferences, the Melbourne Renegades conference covering the western regions and the Melbourne Stars conference covering the eastern regions. Both teams have passed through their respective conferences, with three wins against the best teams in each of the cricket regions in Victoria. Representing the Melbourne Stars conference is Cranbourne Cricket Club and representing the Melbourne Renegades conference is East Belmont Cricket Club.
