Renegades & Stars lead the way

Melbourne Renegades remain as the only unbeaten team in the KFC T20 Big Bash League after a barnstorming start to the competition.

Having commenced their season with an eight wicket victory over Melbourne Stars, the Renegades made it two from two on Friday night with a five wicket win over Sydney Thunder.

The Stars have recovered since their dropping their season opener by accounting for Perth Scorchers in dramatic circumstances at the WACA- courtesy of the best bowling figures in Australian domestic Twenty20 history when Lasith Malinga snared 6-7- before registering a four wicket triumph over Hobart Hurricanes at the MCG to join the Renegades at the top of table.

The Melbourne teams can advance their progression towards the BBL semi-finals during a blockbuster week, with the Renegades poised to host the Hurricanes at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night before facing Brisbane Heat at the same venue on Saturday.

The Stars will host the reigning BBL champions, Sydney Sixers, at the MCG on Friday night, providing three matches in four nights for Victorian cricket fans.
