Soorya claim title

Having won the toss and elected to bowl, Soorya kept the Tigers to 9-83 with eventual Man-of-the-Match Ceby Mathew snaring 4-14.

In return, Soorya proved too dominant with the bat, reaching the total in the eighth over, losing just one wicket.

Vineeth KV (46) and Jasmeeth Singh (32) played a vital role in securing the JPL title.

In the evening, a cultural event was held to celebrate the day with the Melbourne Renegades’ Matthew Wade in attendance to award both winners and runners up with their awards.

“Having Matthew Wade there was the highlight of the night,” JPL tournament Director Jay Mohan Padmanabhan.

“Everyone loved having him there.”

Players and supporters gathered to enjoy the night that also included some traditional Indian music and dancing.

Pradmanabhan said that he was looking forward to seeing the JPL return stronger next season.

“We want to take it to the next level and go even bigger next year,” Padmanabhan said.
