The Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers posted one of their most emphatic limited-overs victories when they crushed Queensland by 190 runs in October.

Victoria compiled a record total of 2-379 before dismissing the home side for 189 in the 39th over.

Stand-in skipper Aaron Finch led from the front, posting 154 from just 141 balls – the highest ever score by a Victorian – including 14 boundaries and a whopping five sixes,  while his opening stand of 226 with Rob Quiney, who clubbed 119 from 111 balls, was also a new mark.

The partnership fell just one shy of the all-time Victorian record and provided the perfect platform for the Bushrangers middle order to launch.

After Quiney’s dismissal, Finch combined with Chris Rogers to add 111 from 62 balls before the skipper was dismissed.

Will Sheridan, promoted to number four to provide some extra hitting at the death of the innings, smashed an unbeaten 28 from 12 balls with three sixes.

Sheridan and Rogers put on 42 from 18 deliveries to close the innings, and Rogers’ 64 not out from 37 balls was an exceptional combination of placement and power hitting.

Having taken the reins in the RYOBI One-Day Cup for the first time, Finch was extremely pleased with his maiden century, believing the toss played a key role in the win.

“For me personally it was my first one-day ton for Victoria so it will go right up there on top of the shelf,” the 25-year-old said.

The Bushrangers held all the momentum and took it into the second half of the game, never giving Queensland a sniff.

The pick of the bowlers was Jon Holland, who claimed 3-49 from his 13 overs, in a spell that mixed aggression with control beautifully.

Darren Pattinson (2-29) and Sheridan (2-26) were the other multiple wicket takers for the Bushrangers, while James Pattinson (1-39), John Hastings (1-42) and Aaron Finch (1-2) also chimed in with scalps.
