12 & Under T20 Blast! Girls Competition

Cricket Victoria is searching for the next Meg Lanning!

You are being invited to participate in the latest and exciting initiative in the development of junior female cricket.

'Expressions of interest' are being sort from schools and clubs or individuals who would like to take part in our modified 8-week cricket competition, beginning in February 2012.

The competition will be conducted on a Wednesday afternoon for one hour on the outfield of a local central venue, in a bid to allow for young females to play cricket whilst not impeding on family commitments.

Cricket Victoria's Female Cricket Officer, Di Day, believes that traditional cricket may not suit all of the girls. Therefore, we have developed this modified concept of the game to get everyone excited about cricket.

This inclusive new format allows for players to experience all aspects of the game where everyone has the chance to bat, bowl, wicket keep and field, while engaging in a modified, non-threatening competition that opens up access to a healthy, safe and inclusive environment.

Many girls have experienced this form of cricket through Kanga 8's - successful program conducted for primary school children during terms three and four. By offering modified cricket we are embracing the fun, active and energetic aspect of our current lifestyles.
