All-Embracing Strategies
Strategies for inclusion
Cricket Victoria acknowledges the need to be proactive in ensuring the ongoing development of its Clubs and Associations in order for cricket to maintain its reputation as a valued community oriented sport.
Implementation of the All-Embracing Program involves the following broad strategies:
- Educate club members on ways to make people feel welcome and comfortable in their Club surroundings
- Make it public knowledge that your Club is accepting of all people, regardless of race or ability
- Develop, implement and display Club policies relating to discrimination
- Offer a range of competitive and social opportunities for participation
- Broaden the promotion of your Club to include local media or gathering places used by under-represented groups, i.e. community houses
- Consider developing transport support systems where regular participants give others a lift to and from the venue or investigate the use of community buses or drivers.
For further strategies on how to make your Club All-Embracing please obtain the "Beyond the Boundary" resource manual.
Published by Cricket Victoria the “Beyond the Boundary” resource manual aims to assist Clubs and Associations wanting to become inclusive by providing ideas, identifying potential barriers, recording success stories, describing existing programs and contacts for additional assistance.
