Cricket Victoria's Beach Cricket was in full swing on Sunday, 11 December 2011, as the boys from the Melbourne Stars ventured down to Sandridge Beach to join in on some beach cricket fun.
Despite the not-so-sunny weather conditions, families gathered at the Sandridge Life Saving Club in Port Melbourne to challenge Melbourne Stars players Cameron White, David Hussey, Alex Keath, Chris Simpson, George Bailey and James Faulkner at the popular summer's game.
From classic catches and beach sprints to the fastest and longest throw, people of all ages competed for a range of prizes including beach cricket bats and tickets to the Boxing Day test.
However, the highlight of the day for the kids came when they got the chance to meet and play with some of their favourite Stars, as they signed some autographs and assisted in the running of activities.
"It's a great day to come down here with the kids and to promote cricket by getting them out and having a bit of fun in the sun and getting them involved in the game of cricket," Melbourne Stars Captain Cameron White said.
