Holiday Park Cricket

One of the great events for a number of families across the state is the opportunity to travel to the beach or river over the summer holiday period and play a bit of cricket in the Caravan Park or Holiday Park. This often can lead to cricket on the beach or on the banks of the river and can involve a number of people. Some examples of where Cricket Victoria have previously been involved in Holiday Park cricket are in Ocean Grove and at the Point Leo Caravan Park, where at one event over 250 participants from the caravan park participated in the knockout modified cricket carnival.

Setting up a Holiday Park cricket carnival is a great way to spend a day whilst away on holidays. The key to organising a Holiday Park cricket competition is to ensure you do the following:

  • Set up a registration form for teams and/or individuals to fill out and return to a central point (eg. caravan park reception area)
  • Distribute the flyer to families encouraging all to be involved
  • Look into a local business providing a prize for the winning team (eg. dinner vouchers)
  • Collate all team entries one or two days before the event and organise a fixture (round robin or knockout fixtures work best - depends on equipment / space)
  • Have fun!
