Local Government & Metropolitan Cricket Associations Forums
Cricket Victoria held two very important information sessions for both metropolitan cricket associations and local government authorities in June to relay information and issues being experienced by Victorian cricket clubs.
The Local Government Forum held at the MCG on Friday 20th June attracted CEO’s, planning and recreation managers and facilities administrators from over 30 metropolitan councils.
Here Cricket Victoria unveiled the research that had been conducted in partnership with 10 local councils on the All Season’s synthetic wicket.
Several cricket clubs had raised concerns about the bounce and speed the All Seasons synthetic wicket late in 2007. In response to these concerns Victoria University were engaged to conduct independent research. For the full presentation of results click here.
Cricket Victoria also produced a guide for cricket clubs and associations to work with councils to maximise the use of their cricket facilities. Lists of suggestive strategies were compiled in consultation with council, cricket administrators and Cricket Victoria staff. These strategies were discussed in detail at both the Local Government Forum and Metropolitan Cricket Associations Forum which was held on Wednesday 25th June.
