BOYS - Lord's Taverners Schools Champions Cup
2007 will be the 22nd year of competition for the Lord's Taverners School Champions Cup.
In 1984, The Lord's Taverners Association proposed a National Schools Competition. In 1988, the Gillette Cup was born with the Championships held each year until 1999.
When Gillette ended its sponsorship after 10 years, the Australian Cricket Board conducted the Championships in 1997 with the Australian Schools Cricket Council running the competition for the next two years. Unable to find a suitable sponsor in 2000, the National competition lapsed. However the Victorian component of the competition has been maintained by Cricket Victoria and the Lord's Taverners.
The Lord's Taverners Association is a group of cricket enthusiasts who aim, through fundraising, to promote sport (and cricket in particular) to schools and underprivileged children throughout Australia. Each State and Territory has an Association, and other smaller groups are being formed throughout the country.
The Victorian Section of this competition was commenced in 1986 and was conducted by the Victorian Schools Cricket Association. Since 2001, the competition has been run by the Game Development Department of Cricket Victoria.
Until this year the program was conducted as a knockout competition between the Schools representing each of the Affiliated Associations.
This year's format involves a round robin series of matches over 4 days followed by a Final between the top two schools at the end of round three.

Lord's Taverners School Cup - Girls
The Victorian Schoolgirls Cricket Championship was established in 1992 with the winning school team from school sports associations competing.
As of 2001/02, the Championship was altered with invitations extended to all secondary school sports associations to enter a representative team. The teams that competed in the first year of the new format were Ballarat Secondary Schools Association, Secondary Catholic Schools Association and Girls Sport Victoria (2 teams). Season 2002/03 welcomed the Eastern Independent Schools to the event.
The Lord's Taverners Schools Cup (Girls) is an important component of the girls cricket pathway, which has been developed over the last 6 years to provide girls with more opportunities to participate in cricket at the various age levels.
