Our Role

  • Employs just over 320 people, including 43 full-time staff and 25 contracted players, placing it in the top 12% of employers in the State
  • Stages a minimum of 40 days of first-class cricket in Victoria, the majority of which is televised nationally, throughout Asia, the Subcontinent, the UK, Canada and USA— 58 hours of international exposure of Victoria compared to the Grand Final 4 hours; Grand Prix 40 hours; Spring Racing Carnival 30 hours
  • 1,182 cricket clubs and 112,000 registered cricketers in Victoria, providing an economic value to the State conservatively estimated at $624 million, plus 62,774 children involved in school based competition cricket
  • Integrated with the Victorian Women’s Cricket Association to include funding, programs, office accommodation and staff assistance
  • Education programs for 1,000 qualified coaches throughout Victoria
  • Conducts over 200 coaching clinics in junior clubs each year
  • Visits over 1,100 schools each year throughout Victoria conducting clinics involving over 65,000 boys and girls
  • Provides information to over 399 “Have A Go” under 10 cricket programs throughout the State involving in excess of 13,500 boys and girls and 1,500 helpers
  • Provides funding and managerial input for the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) cricket program
  • Provides scholarships for talented young players to assist them attending university
  • Introduced and subsidised a State-wide intranet program for all clubs and associations
  • Provides in excess of $1 million per season in grants to affiliated clubs/associations, including women’s cricket
  • Conducts talent identification programs at U13, U15, U16, U17, U18 & U19 age levels involving 1,200 players throughout the State
  • Coordinates State-wide competitions in Super 8’s (secondary schools) and Kanga 8’s (primary schools) for in excess of 1,200 teams
  • Conducts annual seminars/training programs for curators, umpires and scorers
  • Provides cricket balls for every under-age and inter-association competition played over the Christmas/New Year period
  • Specialist training camps/session for batters, fast bowlers, spin bowlers and wicketkeepers
  • Runs a Victorian junior supporters program for 800+ children under 16 years of age
  • Provides funds for the primary and secondary schools championship each season and schools coaching
  • Conducts extensive Volunteer Recognition, Club Recognition and Club Development Programs
  • Provides participation opportunities under the All-Embracing Program for under-represented groups including disability, Indigenous, Culturally and Linguistically Diversebackground, older adults and youth at risk
