Player Suspension

All registered players and clubs in any association must comply with the rules of that association. This requirement applies to the extent that the registered players and clubs are members of the association or are otherwise bound to comply with the rules of the association (for example, by agreeing to do so in registration forms and the like).

Registered players and clubs will be bound by any disciplinary hearing / suspension decision of the association. Other associations may also be bound by disciplinary hearing / suspension decisions of another association (this will depend on whether there is a requirement for associations to recognise disciplinary hearing / suspension decision of other associations). To the extent that an association is not bound by the disciplinary hearing / suspension decision of another association, the association would still be expected to comply with the spirit of the decision. For example, if a player has been suspended by an association, the suspension should also be recognised by other associations.

If a disciplinary hearing / suspension decision of the association has been made in accordance with the rules of the association there will be limited grounds to set aside the decision. Any right of appeal will be set out in the rules of the association. If a player or club has been suspended this is not a ground for discrimination in itself. If a player claims that they have been discriminated against, then this will be subject to an action outside the hearing processes of an association and will be heard by an external body in accordance with discrimination laws.

Any person who is currently serving a suspension or disqualification imposed upon that person by a cricket association affiliated with or recognised by Cricket Australia shall not be eligible to play or be registered as a player or coach of any club until that suspension or disqualification has been served.

No club or association or region shall be entitled to register a person as a player or a coach who is currently serving a suspension or disqualification imposed upon that person by an association or region or peak body affiliated with or recognised by Cricket Australia until that suspension or disqualification has been served. For the purposes of this provision, the appearance of the person's name and suspension expiry date on the "Suspended Players" page on the Cricket Victoria website shall constitute prima facie evidence that the player is legitimately suspended.
Each club shall be responsible to ensure that all of its players are eligible to be registered.
