Recruiting Volunteers

The in2CRICKET Program has shown that parents are not only keen to be involved in the weekly running of the Program but also thoroughly enjoy the experience, with many moving onto volunteer roles within the cricket club.

A few ideas to recruit volunteers:

Participant Registration Form

Utilise the section of the Participant Registration form where parents select their willingness to volunteer assisting with Program.  Speak with the parents at Registration when they sign up their child - don't wait until you decide that you need parents to assist with the Program.

Volunteer Roster

Create a Volunteer Roster.  Parents are willing to act as a volunteer; some every week, some every second.  A roster provides parents with the flexibility of assisting when they can.  Allocate specific tasks so parents are aware of their responsibilities at the session they volunteer their time.

Parent versus Child Cricket Match

On Registration Day and/or first week of the Program, conduct a parent versus child modified cricket match to get parental involvement. Encourage parental involvement in all activities in first 2 weeks of your program.

Cricket Club Players

Utilising the players at your cricket club can also be an effective way of increasing the number of volunteers assisting with the program.  Each player may only have to attend one session as players can be allocated on a roster system.

Schools/ Universities

Local secondary schools may have some students interested in learning about coaching or sports administration. Students at universities are also often looking for work experience and references for their courses.
