MAKE VICTORIA THE MOST SUCCESSFUL STATE IN INTERSTATE COMPETITION AND IN DEVELOPING AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVES
Our aim is to excel on the field and winning titles is a goal for all Victorian sides, particularly our flagship teams, the Bushrangers and VicSpirit. Increased national representation is a key focus for both players and umpires alike, and we will strive for excellence in the programs we deliver - and the coaches who run them - in order to achieve this. We are committed to fostering the Spirit of Cricket and ensuring our elite teams understand and display its virtues when representing Victoria.
PERFORMANCE TARGETS TO 2011
- All Victorian teams consistently finish in top two and:
- Bushrangers win at least one competition per year
- VicSpirit win 50%+ of WNCL titles
- Male and female youth teams win 50%+ of national titles
- By 2011, Victorian players account for an average of 30% of selections in Australian male squads and 40% of selections in Australian female squads
- Victorian teams consistently rate top two for Spirit of Cricket
- Victorian umpire appointments account for 30% of the national panel by 2011
MAIN SUPPORTING STRATEGIES:
- Attract and retain talented athletes in cricket using leading talent identification, development and scholarship programs
- Deliver Australia's best high-performance cricket programs for males and females, including:
- Coaching and skill development
- Physical and mental conditioning
- Personal development and player welfare
- Competition programs
- Junior cricket pathways and academy programs
- Administration and technology
- Create quick, agile, powerful and resilient cricketers who maintain the highest standards of professionalism and behaviour, and aim to be recognised as fair and aggressive competitors by opposition players, match officials and fans
- Develop highly qualified coaches at all levels, including:
- Network of specialist high-perfprmance coaches
Alliance with coaches of Premier clubs- Provide, and secure long-term access to, outstanding high-performance facilities for men and women
- Maintain Premier cricket as a healthy, vibrant and competitive club competition, and a crucial part of the Victorian cricket pathway
- Successfully integrate and grow women's club cricket
- Increase the number and quality of leading umpires, using the best available technology and education programs
- Maintain strong relationships with past players
