GROW THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR INVESTMENT IN VICTORIAN CRICKET
Cricket Victoria is required by its charter to act in an enterprising yet responsible manner to ensure not only financial stability but financial growth. Financial success allows for increased investment to develop the game at all levels. Cricket Victoria's financial performance is underpinned by the returns from disciplined financial management, an ever-growing sponsorship portfolio and maximizing the revenues from international cricket in Melbourne.
PERFORMANCE TARGETS TO 2011
- Grow revenue and the financial surplus available to invest in cricket (i.e. revenue after meeting marketing, administration and match presentation expenses)
- Maintain balanced investment policy between high performance, game development and marketing to achieve strategic performance targets
- Maintain reserves at appropriate target level given forecast annual expenditure levels and identified business risks
MAIN SUPPORTING STRATEGIES:
- Maximise revenue from major matches and properties:
- Increase hospitality, signage and ticket sales by producing and promoting outstanding events
- Increase sponsorship income by providing outstanding service and demonstrable value
- Ensure venue arrangements provide appropriate value to cricket
- Work actively with all levels of government to access funding for cricket programs and facilities
Work with Cricket Australia to refine Australian cricket's grants and distributions model. Aim to include a component reflecting the varying population of each state- Grow revenue from alternative sources, including game development partnerships and new media
- Manage operating costs and business risks responsibly
- Maximise benefits from shared services under the federal model
- Maximise returns on investment portfolio subject to appropriate risk constraints
- Link budgeting and forecasting processes to both strategic and operational plans, and actively evaluate performance
