Synthetic Pitches

Cricket Victoria recommends the following for a synthetic cricket pitch:

Suggested Size: 25m x 2.4m
* Length of wicket can be increased according to different situations/requirement/cost consideration

Scope of Works:
1. Mark out area for construction of concrete slab for size
2. Excavate area to depth of 150mm and place spoils to side
3. Laser level area
4. Box off area in preparation for pouring of concrete
5. Supply and lay 50mm of crushed rock to area and compact, laser level.
6. Supply and lay F62 reinforced chainmesh to area
7. Supply and pour 25 MPA concrete to depth of 100mm to area and smooth finish surface for laying of synthetic cricket grass material.

*The recommended length of the pile for a synthetic cricket pitch is 10mm

Off season:

Most clubs either cover their synthectic pitches with dirt or, if they have an All Seasons pitch, broom rubber particles over the surface.

Synthetic pitch covers can also be placed over pitches during footy season. Issues can arise if these covers are stored whilst still wet as the moisture is unable to excape and can ruin the cover.

Another option is to cover the pitch with synthetic tiles such as Sorrento Oval:

Sorrento Oval

Each tile has 15mm base + 25mm synthetic grass. Once they are laid, sand and rubber particles are added.
