u18_cupsmallThe Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Cup is the third competition in the Commonwealth Bank Victorian Cricket Pathway and was originally a VCCL Under 18 Country competition played between the old VCCL Zones. When the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Pathway was introduced in 1999/2000 the compeititon included the eight metropolitan regions to make it a 16 team state wide competition.

The Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Cup is held in January each year with eight regions (four metro and four country) playing on Premier Grounds in Melbourne with the other eight regions (four metro and four country) playing in a country region.  In 2008/09 Albury/Wodonga will host half of the Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Cup.

Regions are placed in pools of four teams and play every team in their pool once during the preliminary rounds. At the end of the preliminary rounds all teams play a semi final with the top team from each pool playing the major semi finals. All matches are 50 over a side one day matches. The winning team from each major semi final progress to the Final of the Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Cup.

Performances in the Under 18 Commonwelth Bank Cup will be monitored closely by Victorian Under 19 Selectors to choose the Victorian Under 19 training squad for the following season.

In 2007/08 the Inner East Emus took on the North East Knights in the Final of the Under 18 Commonwealth Bank Cup at the MCG. The Inner East prevailed to make it their 2nd Under 18 State Championship.
