Umpires' Winter Classes
Each Year Cricket Victoria run Winter Class training nights for experienced, novice & intending Cricket Umpires, coaches, captains, players, team managers, club officials etc during the off season. The classes are directed at developing an understanding of The Laws of Cricket, as well as providing limited instruction on umpiring techniques and is based on the Laws of Cricket (2000 code, 4th Edition – 2010) which came into force on 1st October 2010, the start of season 2010-11.
The course is conducted over 5 nights over the off-seasonof each year by Bob Parry (Umpiring Manager) & Daryl Cox (Umpiring Officer) from Cricket Victoria together with members of the Cricket Australia National Panel and senior Cricket Victoria Premier Cricket Panel umpires with different Laws covered each night.
An examination on the Laws is conducted at the conclusion of the coures which also serves as a hurdle requirement for those wishing to apply to join the Cricket Victoria Premier Cricket Panel of Umpires for the following season.
