Ashes tickets go on sale

With 31,000 tickets pre-purchased for the opening two days of the Boxing Day Test via the Australian Cricket Family – well ahead of the 2010-11 series – the chance to witness history at the MCG is an opportunity not to be missed.

Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland encouraged fans to act quickly to avoid disappointment when tickets go on sale later.

“There was a terrific response from Australian Cricket Family members during the pre-sale period two weeks ago,” Sutherland said.

“Fans will need to act quickly to secure their place at the Commonwealth Bank Ashes Series, Carlton Mid One Day Series or KFC T20 Internationals this summer.”

The rivalry between Australia and England will continue after the Ashes series with the MCG poised to host the opening one-day match of the summer on Sunday, January 12 before a Twenty20 fixture on Friday, January 31.

The one-day series will bring back Summer’s Biggest Dress Up Party and also mark the start of preparations for the Australian team as it gets ready to host the 2015 ICC World Cup the following summer.

The Twenty20 match could see an influx of young families in the stands as the new Bring the Kids For Free* incentive is launched.
