Cricket Victoria announces Strategic Grants Fund recipients
Cricket Victoria (CV) has announced that 24 projects from a range of Victorian Clubs, Associations and Region Committees have been successful in receiving funds to assist in the development of cricket across the state.
CV’s Strategic Grants Fund distributed more than $120,000 to Clubs, Associations and Region Committees, with the requirement that their application promoted cricket initiatives in line with CV’s 2015-17 Strategy for Victorian Cricket.
A range of applications were reviewed by CV’s Grants Committee, who selected the projects that best reflected the program guidelines.
Cricket Australia’s National Cricket Facilities Funding Scheme also contributed 50 per cent of the funding for more than half of the projects, reinforcing the support for facilities development.
“We received a lot of good applications from across the state for the Strategic Grants Fund and from them, we selected a range of projects that best reflected the guidelines and CV’s strategic plan,” Cricket Victoria’s Grants Committee Chair Sue Crow said.
“From upgrading playing and practice facilities to implementing a new club development program, all projects that received funding will assist the growth of cricket in their area and will help to ensure that cricket becomes Victoria’s favourite sport.”
The funds received will assist clubs in a range of projects, including the development of turf match facilities, coach and umpire development, maintenance of equipment such as rollers and mowers, the development of multi-sport practice facilities and desalination systems.
Grants range from $1,500 to $40,000.

Today’s announcement coincides with the National PlayCricket Regsitration Drive, Australian Cricket’s national participation campaign that calls on Australians to sign up to play cricket in 2015 via playcricket.com.au.
