England draws first blood

England has drawn first blood in the Ashes overnight with a 14-run victory at Trent Bridge.

Requiring 80 for victory when Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers quick James Pattinson (25*) joined Brad Haddin in the middle, the pair put on 65 for the 10th wicket before the New South Wales gloveman was given out on review for 71.

Earlier in the innings, Bushrangers run-machine Chris Rogers posted his maiden Test match half-century as he compiled 52 from 121 balls including eight boundaries.
