The Cricket Victoria Foundation’s Girls Leadership Program empowers young women aged 14–16 to develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to become future leaders within cricket and their communities. Delivered in partnership with the MCC Foundation and supported by leadership experts, the program provides participants with opportunities to explore leadership, self-awareness, communication, coaching, umpiring and the many career pathways available within cricket beyond playing. Through engaging workshops, practical activities and mentorship opportunities, participants are encouraged to challenge themselves, build meaningful connections and create positive change within their local clubs and communities.

The program is delivered annually through a metropolitan program and two regional sessions held across Victoria each year, ensuring young women from both metropolitan and regional communities have access to leadership development opportunities. Since its inception, the program has supported hundreds of young women to grow their confidence, develop lifelong skills and strengthen their connection to cricket. The Girls Leadership Program continues to play an important role in Cricket Victoria Foundation’s commitment to creating inclusive pathways and inspiring the next generation of female leaders on and off the field.

After a successful last season with over 80 participants from across the state, Cricket Victoria is thrilled to announce the return of our Leading the Game – Girls Leadership Program for 2026.

Program Cost

The Girls Leadership Program is available at no cost to participants, with thanks to the Melbourne Cricket Club Foundation.

How To Nominate

The program is available to girls aged 14 to 16-years-of-age who currently play cricket at a Cricket Victoria affiliated club.

Each club may nominate up to two girls to attend the program. Participants must have consent from a parent or a guardian and be supported by a Club Mentor (a coach, club coordinator, committee member, club volunteer) who will support the participants over the duration of the program.
