Juniors crowned indoor champions

Victoria claimed the under-13 and under-15 boy's titles at the Australian Junior Indoor Cricket Championships in Adelaide on Saturday.

The under-13s took out the title in a nail-biter against Queensland while, the under-15s were crowned champions after a dominant performance against Western Australia.

In high drama, Victoria’s under-13s played a thrilling 99-run tie against Queensland, leading to an eight over play-off to decide the title.

Batting first Victoria reached 59 off its eight overs and then restricted Queensland to 46.

Victorian captain Jordan Hesline was awarded Man of the Match for a fine all-round performance, including a crucial direct hit run out in the last over.

In the under-15s, Man of the Match Callan Gilboy, MacKenzie Harvey and Ryan Peter-Budge led the way to see Victoria accumulate 124 runs and dismiss WA for 96.

In the under-17 boys, Victoria completed the series in fifth position with two wins and eight losses while, the under-17 Victorian ‘blue’ girls were defeated by Queensland in a close preliminary final with the Victorian ‘white’ team finishing sixth.

Tournament results can be found at the Indoor Cricket Championships website.
