The Kookaburra Women’s Premier U18s Competition is the State’s highest level of underage competition for females. This competition allows for an opportunity to be selected in the Victorian U19 Country and Metropolitan representative squads.

To be eligible to part of the Kookaburra Women’s Premier U18s Competition, players must be between 15-17 years of age as at 1 September 2026.
Premier Clubs will define the pricing structures for their program, this process will cover costs such as coaching, venue hire and equipment.
Contrary to the Marg Jennings Winter Academies, each Premier Club runs their Women’s Premier U18s Competition squads differently.
Each Premier Club is to select their final squads (maximum of 14 players) by October 17, 2026.

To keep up to date, please keep an eye out on the PlayCricket App, by selecting Competitions, then selecting Victorian Premier Cricket. Under Victorian Premier Cricket, the option for Kookaburra Women’s Premier Under 18s Summer 2026/27 should appear.
Alternatively, tournament dates will be updated on this website.
*Please note the Kookaburra Women’s Premier U18s is not a participation competition. Whilst each club will have slightly different match day plans, the competition is for the best players across Victoria to showcase their talent and strive for selection in the Victorian underage squads.
Whilst T20 cricket is the shortest format played across Australian Cricket, it plays an important role developing cricketers. The shorter format encourages players to identify ways to score and restrict runs.
Currently, no long format cricket is played in the women’s game outside of Test Matches, so replicating the One Day and T20 formats is the most beneficial formats for player development.
No, players may only represent one club at a time. If a person wishes to change clubs, they must obtain a transfer.
If you were selected in a Premier U18s Competition final squad in season 2025/26 and you wish to change clubs, then you would need to get a TRANSFER with justification to do so.
No. Players cannot participate in both the VMCU carnivals and Women’s Kookaburra Premier U18s.
There are multiple avenues for higher selection in the future and playing in the Premier U18s Competition is not a pre-requisite for these selections. Depending on the player’s age as at September 1 2026, there may be opportunities to be selected in a Premier U18s Competition in the 2026/27 season or if “aged out” of the U18s Premier Competition, there may be opportunities to play in the Victorian Women’s Premier Competition whereby selection in the senior Victorian Women’s State Cricket Team is possible.
