South Caulfield and Upwey-Tecoma to meet in Statewide T20 Cup Final

The Final of the Victorian Statewide T20 Cup will be held at the MCG on Sunday with South Caulfield and Upwey-Tecoma clashing.

The two sides have won the right to play on the home of cricket by progressing through the knockout competition that featured the best club from 16 regions around the state.

South Caulfield, who was the first team to qualify for the Final after defeating Merlynston Hadfield on February 3, will be aiming to become the first metropolitan team to win the tournament with all five previous winners coming from country regions.

Upwey-Tecoma heads into the Final with confidence after overcoming defending champion Wendouree in the semi-final.

Each region, eight metropolitan and eight country, have one representative with knockout matches beginning in December.

The 16 teams that featured in this year’s tournament were Mildura Settlers CC, Wendouree CC, Dennington CC, East Belmont CC, Strathdale Maristians CC, Bruck CC, Bundalaguah CC, Upwey-Tecoma CC, Hoppers Crossing CC, Rosanna CC, Merlynston Hadfield CC, Vermont CC, Carnegie United CC, South Caulfield CC, Bayswater Park CC and Buckley Ridges CC.

The Final between South Caulfield and Upwey-Tecoma will begin at the MCG at 12pm.

The winner will take home the Statewide Twenty20 Cup as well as $1,150 in prizemoney.

All spectators are invited to enter via Gate 2 with admission free of charge.
