Inaugural Multicultural Community Coaching Course a success

The community course is designed to develop coaching skills, with an emphasis on junior cricket, by making the courses more accessible to parents, volunteers and budding cricket coaches who devote their time and effort to ensure children of all backgrounds can enjoy the game we love.

In attendance were 32 new coaches representing 12 different nationalities.

The course started with a tour of the new facility, followed by practical sessions delivered by accredited State & Territory Cricket Association staff, who are trained by Cricket Australia based on the ‘Australian Way’ philosophy.

By participating in the course, Coaches are now able to help educate their communities, as well as improve their own coaching.

Hussain Hanif, Cricket Victoria Multicultural Participation Officer said of the course;

“For cricket to truly be a sport for all Australians we need to assist groups who are traditionally underrepresented in the cricket coaching ranks, Coaches will be taught a wide range of skills and It’s important to give everyone to the opportunity to better themselves, particularly if individuals who may not have been exposed to or identified by cricket’s mainstream cricket/coaching pathways”

Cricket Australia in conjunction with the State & Territory Cricket Associations are providing fully funded Community Coaching courses, for more details on upcoming courses, click here.
