Cricket Victoria supports IDAHOBIT

Cricket Victoria is proud to show its support for the LGBTI+ community on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

IDAHOBIT was established in 2004 as the International Day Against Homophobia to highlight discrimination experienced on the basis of sexuality and the 17th of May commemorates the day the World Health Organisation lifted homosexuality from being classified as a mental health disorder.

Today, this important day has been expanded to stand up against the discrimination experienced by the entire LGBTI+ community and is recognised by people in over 130 countries around the world.

Cricket Victoria are committed to making the sport of cricket a truly welcoming environment for all LGBTI+ people. The Proud Cricket Program is a flagship program for Cricket Victoria and provides structured opportunities for LGBTI+ people to learn the skills of cricket in safe and inclusive environments, which is run in conjunction with Proud 2 Play.

Cricket Victoria are constantly striving to find new ways to make cricket a sport for all and have embarked on several research projects in recent years to address barriers to participating in cricket for the LGBTI+ community.

Cricket Victoria stand with the LGBTI+ community on 17 May in rejecting homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and interphobia in any way, shape or form.
