Cricket Victoria confirms executive appointments in Community and Premier Cricket

Cricket Victoria has confirmed two senior appointments to lead the next chapter of Community Cricket and Premier Cricket in the state.

Daisy Brooke has been appointed General Manager – Community Cricket and Liam Murphy has been appointed General Manager – Premier Cricket.

Dr Brooke has led her own management consultancy for the last two years, consulting to a range of organisations domestically and globally, including the AFL and the Zurich Foundation.

She was previously the Director of Development at Sailing Australia and Executive Manager – Program Development and Evaluation at the Alcohol and Drug Foundation.

Dr Brooke holds a PhD in psychology from the University of Exeter. She played county cricket in England for Somerset and was a Cricket Centre of Excellence Scholar with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) at Loughborough University.

Mr Murphy is currently Chief Executive of Calisthenics Victoria and joins Cricket Victoria in a newly-created role designed to service and drive the future of the Premier Cricket competition.

Prior to his role in calisthenics, Mr Murphy has a background in financial advisory roles and private wealth management.

Mr Murphy played more than 200 Premier Cricket matches for Prahran, including 139 in the First XI. He has been involved in all levels of club administration at Prahran and has fulfilled captain and coaching roles at Balwyn Cricket Club and Brunswick Cricket Club over the last decade.

Cricket Victoria Interim CEO Nick Cummins welcomed the appointments.

“We are really pleased to welcome Daisy and Liam to Cricket Victoria where they will play key roles in the organisation’s executive leadership,” Cummins said.

“Daisy brings a broad range of local and international experience and expertise and an advanced knowledge of success in community sport which will be invaluable. Liam’s management acumen, together with his history in cricket will see him take on a vital role liaising with and driving strategic outcomes for Premier Cricket.”

“I’d like to thank all of the candidates who participated in both processes. The passion for the future of our game was clearly evident,” Cummins said.

Dr Brooke is due to commence with Cricket Victoria next week while Mr Murphy will commence in late August.
