Rising stars return for WNCL clashes with WA

Victoria will welcome back several young guns for its pair of WNCL clashes against Western Australia at the CitiPower Centre on Wednesday and Friday this week.

All-rounder Tess Flintoff is set to return from a quad injury, while Rhys McKenna and Ella Hayward are back from Australia’s ICC Under 19 World Cup campaign.

Pace bowler Milly Illingworth also featured at the World Cup and is now in line to make her Victorian debut.

The 17-year-old fast bowler from Essendon-Maribyrnong Park claimed best figures of 2-12 at the tournament against India, which included the wicket of Indian star Shafali Verma.

Victoria sits in fifth place on the ladder with three wins from eight matches – level on points with fourth-placed Western Australia.

Five players are unavailable due to national duties – with Meg Lanning, Kim Garth, Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham all part of Australia’s squad at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.
