GLoBALL program to take flight

The GLoBALL program will take flight tonight with up to 500 international students and ambassadors bound for the MCG to watch Essendon tackle Carlton.

Over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, a further 200 are expected to channel into Hisense Arena to see the Melbourne Vixens square off against the Sydney Swifts.

Late last month, Cricket Victoria, Essendon Football Club and Netball Victoria formally joined forces with the Victorian Government to deliver the GLoBALL program, which provides opportunities for international students studying in Victoria, new migrants and refugees to interact and connect with the community through sport.

“Tonight we welcome 500 international students and program ambassadors to our 140th anniversary match,” Essendon Football Club Community Manager Cameron Britt said.

“This game has long been identified as a really special round for the club and for that reason we believe it presents a fantastic opportunity to host a diverse supporter group that can experience Melbourne, the MCG and the Essendon Football Club.”

GLoBALL participants and ambassadors will also have the opportunity to attend KFC T20 Big Bash League matches this summer featuring the Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars.
