Hoppers Crossing have claimed their first NICL victory in Victoria West Women’s zone following a 24-run win over Essendon Maribyrnong Park.

Batting first, the Bombers started brilliantly with Brodie Whitmore (21) and Paris Rafferty (22) putting on a 43-run opening partnership. However, three wickets each to Suzie Hilton and Kerry Garwood helped restrict the Bombers total to 62.

In reply, Australian representative Briony Polkinghorne showed her class with the bat scoring 27 runs to see the Hurricanes comfortably pass the Bombers total.

Croydon Raiders remain undefeated following their 89-23 victory over Northcote Knights. Newly contracted Victorian Women’s player Elly Donald led the way for the Raiders (23 runs, 2 wickets) while Jess Adams also impressed with the ball taking four wickets.

In the East Women’s zone, Annecy Homberg (27 runs, 1 wicket) led the Monash Tigers to a comfortable 132-68 victory over Cranbourne.

Springvale Seahawks claimed their second victory of the season (115-72) thanks to 28 runs and two wickets from Yash Shantha.

Melton Falcons remain in striking distance of Northcote Knights at the top of the Victoria West Men’s ladder following Super Sunday in Geelong. The Falcons were narrow six-run winners in their first game against North Geelong Supercats, with Thomas Stoneham (20 runs, 3 wickets) and Grant McDonald (25 runs) leading the way for the away side.

Cam Clayton was dominant for the Falcons in their second game against the Northcote Pirates, scoring 43 runs and taking two wickets in his side’s 138-55 victory.

Hoppers Crossing also moved back into finals contention taking two wins from the day. The Hurricanes took 18 wickets to restrict Geelong Jets to a below par total of 35, while in their second match, Trent Lawford lifted the Hurricanes with 32 runs and a wicket as they defended a total of 119 batting first.

In the Victoria East Men’s zone, Croydon Raiders took maximum points in their 86-42 win over Cranbourne Kings. Australian representative Travis Baker led the way with 19 runs and two wickets. Bobo’s Diner Sharks also impressed in their 120-63 victory over Monash Tigers.
