Victoria name squad for top-of-table clash with Tigers

Matt Short returns from national duties following Australia’s 3-0 T20I series win in New Zealand and will look to play his first red-ball game since November.

Peter Siddle has also been named with Scott Boland unavailable for selection as he heads across the Tasman to New Zealand for Australia’s Test tour.

With Victoria sitting second and Tasmania first in the standings, and two rounds of Shield cricket left, this game will play a huge part in determining the make-up of the final.

Cricket Victoria’s Head of Male Cricket, David Hussey, said:

“It is an exciting time of the year with just two more rounds left in the Shield season.”

“The boys are keen to head over to Hobart and take on Tasmania in what will be a huge game in the context of our season.

“We’re playing an impressive brand of cricket and are looking to keep our momentum rolling with another strong performance out at Blundstone Arena.

“It is great to welcome back Matt Short to the squad following his time in Australian colours, while we’re lucky to have someone as experienced as Peter Siddle ready to go in place of Scott Boland.”
