Victorian cricket toasts 2021-22 State and Big Bash Award winners

Nic Maddinson, Nicole Faltum and Henry Thornton have received the top state honours at Cricket Victoria's State and Big Bash awards this evening.

Maddinson won the Bill Lawry Medal as the state’s best-performed player throughout the Marsh Sheffield Shield season.

It’s the second time Maddinson has won the medal after winning in 2019-20. Maddinson scored 545 runs at an average of 54.50 with two centuries.

Faltum won her first Sharon Tredrea Award as the best-performed Victorian player during the WNCL.

Wicketkeeper/batter Faltum took on the Victorian captaincy for the WNCL campaign while Meg Lanning was on national duties with Australia.

The 22 year-old made 189 runs at an average of 31 and finished with 12 dismissals with the gloves.

Fast bowler Henry Thornton was awarded the Dean Jones Medal as the state’s best player during the Marsh One-Day Cup.

Thornton finished the tournament with five wickets in four matches.

In Big Bash news, Indian international Harmanpreet Kaur was named the Renegades’ WBBL Player of the Year while Kane Richardson was named the Renegades’ BBL Player of the Year.

Englishman Joe Clarke was named the Melbourne Stars’ BBL Player of the Year while Victorian squad member Kim Garth took the honours for the WBBL squad.

Women’s Players’ Player
Voted on by the Victorian women’s squad and awarded to the player judged to best exhibit Victorian values.
Winner: Kim Garth

Melbourne Stars BBL and WBBL Players of the Year
Awarded to the players adjudged to have had the best performances in the respective tournaments.
Winners: Joe Clarke and Kim Garth

Melbourne Renegades BBL and WBBL Players of the Year
Awarded to the players adjudged to have had the best performances in the respective tournaments.
