Victorian underage talent selected for 2022 Lanning vs Perry Series

The most promising female players across the country will come together for three T20 matches over two days to test their skills against fellow up-and-coming cricketers.

The squad features Victorian contracted players Ella Hayward, Olivia Henry and Rhys McKenna.

Erin Carroll, who was named winner of the Melbourne Renegades reality TV series ‘Renegades Recruit’ has also been included.

The matches will act as the first of several opportunities for players to put their name forward for the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa to be held in January 2023 with final selection to take place at the U19 National Championships in December.

Victorian Assistant coach Dulip Samaraweera will act as the coach of one of the squads.

Selection was finalised by the YSP with the support of State and Territory Associations through nominations based on performances.

Cricket Victoria’s Head of Female Cricket, Sharelle McMahon said the series provides the players with an excellent opportunity to test themselves against the best talent in their age group.

“We’re thrilled to see such strong Victorian representation across the squad. It is a fantastic reward for the six players selected after they’ve performed well in previous underage carnivals for Vic Metro and Vic Country.

“We’re always looking to get more matches into our players and to build depth through our Victorian squads, these matches against quality opposition will provide an excellent development opportunity.

“it’s also great reward for Dulip Samaraweera to be recognised as one of the leading coaches in the female game, Dulip does a mountain of work with our Victorian squad and is a highly respected figure.”

All matches will be live streamed on FrogBox, with links to be shared closer to the tournament.
