NICL 2018 – Week 4 wrap

Croydon Raiders remain the benchmark team in the East Men’s NICL zone following a comprehensive 83-17 victory over Bobo’s Diner Sharks in Sunday evening’s live-stream match of the round.

Despite a first pair partnership of 22 between Rod Bird and Jarrod Munday, the Sharks were only able to register a below part total of 17.

In reply, the Raiders had a shaky start losing the first skin, however Perkins brothers Justin and Kieran took control of the match with a second pair partnership of 33.

Monash Tigers also recorded their first win of the season following a 73-47 victory over Cricket Southern Bayside. Australian Outdoor Under-16 representative Jake Fraser-McGurk impressed in his first match for the season hitting 22 runs and taking 2 wickets.

In the West Men’s competition, Northcote Knights were pushed all the way against North Geelong Supercats, eventually winning 92-58 thanks to a 46-run partnership between Jarrod Burns and Dave Worthington.

Melton Falcons were too strong for the Northcote Pirates 111-73, and Hoppers Crossing returned to the winners list with a 125-54 win over the Geelong Jets.

In the East Women’s Live-Stream match of the round, Monash Tigers put in an impressive performance against Cranbourne winning 106-79. Annecy Homberg led the way in the run chase (28-runs) in an opening pair partnership of 46 with Simran Gandhi.

Springvale Seahawks took maximum points in their clash with Northcote Pirates. Nirosha Sinnappu starred for the Seahawks with 28 runs opening the batting.

The match of the round in the West Women’s competition saw the Kings 8-run winners over the Northcote Knights 113-105, while Croydon Raiders were too strong for EMP in their debut match of the season.
