NICL 2018 – Week 8 wrap

Batting first the Falcons put together a total of 61 thanks to a 28-run opening stand between Grant McDonald and Nathan D’Antonio. The Falcons built pressure in the middle overs in reply, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the experienced Knights lineup from passing their total.

North Geelong also posted two wins from the weekend. The Supercats were pushed all the way by the Albury Warriors, eventually taking out a last over victory 91-88. Richard Farrington continued his strong form with 22 runs and two wickets, while Cam Sawyer impressed for the Warriors (26 runs, 3 wickets).

The Supercats were more convincing in their second match, accounting for Hoppers Crossing 91-70.

The Victoria West Women’s competition also saw two close encounters from Saturday’s matches.

The Hoppers Crossing Hurricanes continued their strong form with a 98-94 victory over the Kings to take third place on the ladder. Zoe Griffiths set the tone opening the batting with 19 runs, followed by three wickets with the ball.

Northcote Knights also managed their second victory with a tight 55-53 win over Essendon Maribyrnong Park. Ella Baluch pulled the Knights over the line scoring 27 runs in the chase.

In the Victoria East Men’s zone, Cranbourne Kings and Bobo’s Diner Sharks took full points from their wins against Monash Tigers and Southern Bayside. Tahj Johnston (27 runs, 4 wickets) impressed for the Kings, while Jake Adamson (18 runs, 4 wickets) led the way for the Sharks.

Monash Tigers have continued their undefeated start to the season in the Victoria East Women’s zone after thrashing Northcote Pirates 144-32. Maddie White stood up for the Tigers (26 runs, 3 wickets).

Springvale Seahawks took second place on the ladder after their 104-81 victory over Cranbourne.
