In the Victoria West Women’s Live-Stream Match of the Round, Cranbourne Kings recovered from a slow start to down Essendon Maribyrnong Park by 19 runs.
The Kings were only able to manage four runs from their first batting pair, however strong performances from Katia Jomini (18 runs) and Julia Carruthers (18 runs) saw the Kings speed to a total of 91.
In reply, the Bombers struggled to build any momentum with the bat. Jomini and Madeleine Wright took two wickets apiece for the Kings.
Croydon remain undefeated in the West Women’s zone following their 111-75 victory over home side Hoppers Crossing Hurricanes. The Raiders had a share of run-scorers and wicket takers in the victory, led by Australian World Cup representative Laura Shaw (21 runs, 2 wickets).
In the West Men’s competition, Northcote Knights again showed their class in the livestream match of the round, eventually defeating a persistent Hoppers Crossing side 78-47.
The Hurricanes started well with the bat as their first pair put on 22 runs, however they could only manage a further 25 runs in their remaining 12 overs to scrape to a total of 47.
Despite Trent Lawford and Justin Davies’ best efforts with the ball, the Knights batting depth was too strong as Alex Jesensek again showed his experience with 20 runs in the final batting pair.
Elsewhere in the West Men’s zone, Albury Warriors took their fourth win of the season over the Geelong Jets 98-49 to remain in the finals hunt.
The Melton Falcons remain only six points behind the Knights after dual victories against the Jets and Warriors at home, and North Geelong remain in third place on the ladder following their 90-63 victory over the Northcote Pirates.
In the Victoria-East Men’s zone, Croydon Raiders were too strong for Cricket Southern Bayside (124-32).
Andrew Keane (20 runs, 3 wickets) and Geoff Latham (12 runs, 5 wickets) stood up for the Raiders in the absence of Australian representatives Travis Baker and Justin Perkins.
Meanwhile, 83 runs from their final 8 overs with the bat saw Bobo’s Diner Sharks take maximum points in their 130-54 win over Cranbourne Kings.
