Off to a good start

Victoria's finals hopes remain firmly on track after a strong start to the Australian Masters Indoor Cricket Championships in Brisbane.

With representation in four divisions, the Over 30s, 35s, 40s and 50s, the Victorians have put in solid performances throughout the competition.

Defending champions, the Victorian Over 30s, have made a convincing start to their campaign, sitting on top of the ladder with five wins and one loss.

Openers Matt Fitt and Michael Sullivan have significantly contributed with the bat while Rodney Bird, the current leading wicket-taker in the tournament, has dominated with the ball.

On track to qualify for the finals, the Over 35s sit third on the table with two wins.

Victorian Open representative Dave Dervan, has proved to be vital with both bat and ball and will help the team challenge division favourites, Queensland and New South Wales.

With seven teams in the Over 40s, including two teams from New Zealand, the Victorians sit just outside of the top four.

Captain Andrew Rhodes will play a pivotal role in the upcoming fixtures to ensure that the Over 40s remain in the hunt for the title.

In the final division, Victoria’s Over 50s team have shown no signs of middle age, sitting in second position with two wins and two losses.
