Peter Handscomb is a reliable middle-order batsman and occasional wicket‑keeper for Victoria, known for his careful technique and consistency. He debuted for the state in the 2011-12 Sheffield Shield season, marking his first-class start with a composed 71 against Queensland.

In February 2012, he struck his maiden Shield century-113 at the Adelaide Oval-before assuming wicket‑keeping duties in Matthew Wade’s absence.

He made his Test debut for Australia in November 2016 at Adelaide, scoring a half-century and later recording back-to-back centuries against Pakistan – becoming the first Test cricketer in 97 years to score fifty or more in each of his first four innings. Across 20 Tests he scored 1,079 runs at 37.20, including two hundreds and five fifties. In One-Day Internationals, Handscomb debuted in January 2017 and impressed with a century during the famous 359-run chase against India in Mohali. He featured in Australia’s 2019 World Cup campaign, playing in the semi-final.

At state level, Handscomb has captained Victoria to a Marsh One-Day Cup title in 2018–19, and has remained a key run-scorer, topping the Shield charts as recently as 2021–22 and 2022–23. A technically accomplished batsman with a solid record for both Victoria and Australia, he continues to lend experience and stability to Victoria’s line-up.
