Sophie Molineux rose through the ranks of Victoria’s junior cricket system – captaining the under‑18s, nabbing a hat‑trick in the U‑18 state champs, and earning the inaugural Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year award in 2017. She made her debut for Victoria in the WNCL in 2016, and quickly became a standout left‑arm orthodox all‑rounder.

Her performances earned her a spot with the Melbourne Renegades in the inaugural WBBL season of 2015-16. She took on the captain’s role in 2021 and, after guiding the team back to finals, led the Renegades to their maiden WBBL title in late 2024 – finishing top of the table, hosting and winning the final.

Internationally, Sophie broke into the Australian national side in 2018 with her WT20I debut, followed by her ODI debut later that year and Test debut in 2019. She has since become a regular in all formats, contributing to Australia’s T20 World Cup victories in 2018 and 2020.

Sophie still represents Victoria in WNCL and captains the Renegades, and she continues to develop her international career as a talented bowling all‑rounder with strong batting ability – a proud progression from country roots to Australian colours and WBBL glory.
