Kick-start your career in sport

Cricket Victoria, the Melbourne Renegades, and the Melbourne Stars, in partnership with RMIT University have established the Melbourne Cricket Education Academy (MCEA).

The first of its kind in Australian cricket, MCEA students are based at Cricket Victoria at the state-of-the-art CitiPower Centre, Junction Oval, St. Kilda. This Academy is a unique opportunity for select students to kick-start a career in sport while studying a dual Diploma of Business and Diploma of Leadership and Management, delivered by RMIT University. Academy students will have the option to select from two elite sporting programs: the Cricket Development Program and/or the Sports Business Placement Program.

Students in the Academy will study the dual Diploma of Business and Diploma of Leadership & Management, including modules such as, business operations, digital marketing, communication, finance, leadership, and more. This qualification gives students full credit for the first year of RMIT’s Bachelor of Business and allows students to pathway into the 2nd year of the business degree. Completing this pathway will give students 3 qualifications in 3 years (2 x Diploma and a Bachelor Degree).

Academy students in the ‘Sports Business Placement Program’ will undertake 100 hours of real-life work experience in an elite sporting environment across many departments of Cricket Victoria including the Melbourne Renegades and the Melbourne Stars.

Academy students in the ‘Cricket Development Program’ will undertake one day per week (on average) of cricket coaching and technique development activities at the CitiPower Centre delivered by some of the best cricket coaching minds in the business.

Academy entry requirements
Current Year 12: Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent, (VCE, VCE VM or VCAL); or
Year 12: Completion of post-secondary studies or at least 6 months’ work experience.
