Victoria’s best Intellectually Disabled Cricketers recently played matches at Casey Fields to not only represent their state but to put their case forward for national selection in the upcoming International Cricket Inclusion Series against England in June!

Victoria’s Intellectually Disabled Team came together again after the pandemic for a two-day camp which included matches at Casey Fields.

We loved seeing this group back together and enjoying the game.

Marnie Kerridge is the President of the Melbourne Deaf Cricket Club and also a member of the Victorian Women’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Cricket team.

Marnie shared the importance of coming together and being connected.

Victoria’s Men’s and Women’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teams recently took part in two days of education sessions and matches to show off their skills.

An Australian squad will also be selected for a series against England later this year.

The Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association recently held their final between Croydon North and Williamstown.

Willamstown took out the honours on the day, however it was a great contest.

𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩 - 𝘼 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙡𝙡...

Recently, our cricket team headed to Katandra School as a part of the Sporting Schools program.

Over four weeks, 36 students enjoyed being outside and playing cricket and we hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.

Here is a little snippet of the fun times.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙑𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩 🏏

• The Victorian Development and exhibition matches weekend took place on the 26th and 27th of March for the Men’s and Women’s Deaf team as well as the Intellectually Disabled (ID) team.

• Day 1 was at the CitiPower Centre with some great guest speakers including former players Sarah Elliot, Graeme Vimpani, Victoria’s Strength and Conditioning coach Adrian Mott. There were some fantastic education sessions, a shirt presentation and team/individual photos of the teams.

• Day 2 took place at Casey fields in beautiful weather with the ID and Men’s deaf team playing each other in 2 x T20s while the Women’s Deaf team took on two Women’s Community Competition teams in Frankston Women’s and Brighton District.

All games were played in great spirit with Australian coaches for the ID and Men’s Deaf team in attendance in preparation for the upcoming International inclusion series against England being played in June.

• The Victorian Blind team took on NSW in Wodonga over Saturday and Sunday for a 40 over and 20 over match which served as the teams first match against another state in over two years. Victoria came out on top winning both matches.

• These days provided the teams a form of replacement for the National Cricket Inclusion Championships which were cancelled for 2022 due to COVID while also allowing them to come together as squads and represent their state.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱.

Last night at the Citipower Centre, the annual Community Cricket Awards were held.

The last two years have been exceptionally difficult as we all navigated a pandemic, yet the cricketing community has stood up and delivered and we couldn't be more prouder.

We are indebted to these wonderful people who do so much to help our game continue to thrive 🏏 👏🏻

𝙑𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖’𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙛 & 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 will take the field this weekend to represent Victoria at Casey Fields for some exhibition T20s, while our best Blind and Low Vision Cricketers will take on NSW in Wodonga for matches on the border.

All players will have an eye on national selection with the International Inclusion Series against England taking place in June this year.

Get along this Sunday the 27th of March from 9am to Casey Fields see some great cricket being played!

A State Memorial Service to honour Shane Warne will be held at 7.00pm AEDT on Wednesday 30 March at the @mcg.
