There鈥檚 no stopping Seth

After attending his first MILO in2CRICKET session last Sunday at Narre Warren South Cricket Club, Seth told his father that “cricket was fun and he couldn’t wait to go again (next) Sunday.”

On Mother’s Day this year, the Sleep family’s life changed dramatically as Seth was diagnosed with T-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

For parents Simon and Nikki, life would now consist of watching their son being poked and prodded by physicians.

“We are so proud of him,” Mrs Sleep said.

“They (the doctors) say do something and he just does it.”

After being housebound for the majority of six months, Seth was enrolled into the MILO in2CRICKET program to higher his confidence, allow him to socialise with other children and to keep him strong and active.

“He has the chance to run around and let energy go,” Mrs Sleep said.

“Hopefully this can have a positive effect on his treatment.”

Later this month, Seth will be the 13th man for the Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers during their RYOBI One-Day Cup match against South Australia.

Along with Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia, organisations including Camp Quality, Challenge, Starlight and Red Kite have shown their support for the Sleep family, organising activities and lending a hand financially.

The Trinity Catholic Primary School community have also thrown their support behind the Sleep family, providing Seth with an iPad to keep in touch with his classmates.

“We have just been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by everyone,” Mrs Sleep said.

For the next three years, Seth will undergo a numerous amount of chemotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions and will face the chance of relapse until he is officially diagnosed as being ‘cured’.

“The reality is that it’s an uncertain future for us and no parent ever wants to go through that,” Mrs Sleep said.
