Cricket in Victoria has a long and proud history – fans have been cheering for the βBig Vβ for over 150 years.
Victoria have won 31 Sheffield Shield titles, five One-day titles and four T20 titles before the current Big Bash League was formed.
In recent years Victoria has won the Sheffield Shield in the 2009-10, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, while making the final in 2005-06 and 2007-08.
Victoria has also won the WNCL on two occasions (2002-03 and 2004-05) and 3 WT20 titles (since replaced by the Womenβs Big Bash League) in 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.
In domestic competitions between 1995-96 and 2017-18 the Victorian Menβs Cricket Team carried the nickname βBushrangersβ, and between the 1996-97 to 2017-18 WNCL seasons the Victorian Womenβs Cricket Team carried the nickname βVicSpiritβ.
Before the 2018-19 season Victorian Cricket ceased the usage of both the βBushrangersβ and βVicSpiritβ monikers, with the teams to officially be referred to as the Victorian Menβs Cricket Team and Victorian Womenβs Cricket Team. Both teams wear uniforms bearing the Victorian Cricket Association (VCA) logo. The change in names was made to simplify the number of elite team cricket brands in Victoria, and return to our origins to play for the Vics.
