Stars and Renegades into bat again for Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision

The clubs raised $42,000 across both derbies last season and will be raising money when the Renegades and the Stars meet at the MCG and Marvel Stadium in January.

Former St Kilda star Nick Riewoldt and Richmond premiership player Jack Riewoldt will resume their roles as ‘Hydration Officers’ with some special guests also lending a hand.

BBL fans can contribute by donating at www.mrv.org.au or by purchasing a special pair of MRV socks from either derby venue.

“We were thrilled with the way the cricket community got behind Maddie’s Vision last season and we’re looking forward to taking this partnership forward in BBL|09,” MRV CEO Nicky Long said.

“There will be no better way to do that than by being a part of the Grand Final rematch in front of big crowds at the MCG and Marvel Stadium and the large television audience watching on from home.”

“This is a condition that most commonly affects young people and the Big Bash has a great way of being able to engage young people and young families.”

MRV has raised more than $8 million to help support a Centre of Research Excellence in Bone Marrow Biology, the first of its kind in the world.

“The Melbourne derbies are among the biggest matches in the BBL season and with large crowds in the stands and watching on TV we have a powerful opportunity to make a difference in the community,” Nick Cummins, General Manager BBL, Commercial and Marketing said.

“Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision does so much for people suffering from the condition and we’re looking forward to helping raise more money and awareness throughout the season.”
